Enthusiasm for art and growing up with supportive parents who encouraged a love and study of drawing, pastel and oil painting with talented instructors was part of my early experience. Later, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on painting and design, worked in the design field, and created graphics for children's clothing and sleepwear. As a volunteer with the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, N. J. I was involved in hanging and preparing for shows, and being exposed to many different artist's works.
While raising two children with my wonderful husband, I painted, exhibited and sold work regularly at art competitions, fairs, and won several awards along the way.
My acrylic and oil paintings are about revealing emotion…. sometimes abstract, but most times these are realistic works. The abstracts are expressive, but without the constraints of recognizable form, most often geometric shapes. These shapes, lines and colors are distortions of those found in nature, but become suggestive of familiar objects. At times I strive to arrange the elements of these paintings with a more subdued palette, but most times they are bathed in saturated color. When not painting abstractly, my images describe recognizable objects from everyday life. Line, shape, and form have the greater emphasis, while keeping distortions to a minimum, and color true to the object.
As a former faculty member at the Spring Street Art Center and Art Etc.in New Jersey, I presently enjoy the opportunity to show my work and interact with the community.
Professional Affiliations include membership with the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council (SCAHC) of New Jersey and the National Oil Painters and Acrylics Society (NOAPS).
